Future of Firefox and Linux Binds Together
To compare Linux and Windows is meaningless. You must have useful programs to run, or no one will try out Linux, even if it could beat Windows in every aspect. I tried Red Hat Linux in 1998 and quickly gave up, simply because there was no useful program. Most importantly, the browser, Netscape, got distorted webpages.
Today, Linux has Firefox.
When Firefox sipped away 10% market share, web designers could no longer produce IE-only sites. It would be so unwise to turn away 10% of potential customers. Distorted webpages are much less a problem now. Linux has finally an important and useful application to run. Firefox makes turning to Linux a real possibility.
If one day, Internet Explorer could have some new and good features to push Firefox far back again. Like what Internet Explorer did to Netscape before. Linux will suffer.
